Oanh Tran Appointed Head of Human Resources at HSBC Vietnam

HSBC has appointed Oanh Tran, Head of Corporate Banking South, Wholesale Banking, as new Head of Human Resources of HSBC Vietnam. The appointment takes effect from 1 September 2020.

Going through a strict process of recruitment, Oanh, a senior business leader for many years, has made the significant move in her career path to take the leadership role in Human Resources team of HSBC. This appointment is the testament and outcome of HSBC’s long-term people strategy, which encourages a “no boundary” environment for HSBC’s colleagues to develop themselves in new areas, fulfil their aspiration in career.
Oanh Tran’s promotion also increases the ratio of female leaders in HSBC Vietnam’s senior management team, supporting the Bank’s strategy in developing female talents and promoting more local people to senior managerial roles in one of the leading international financial institutions.
Oanh Tran began her career with HSBC in 2004 as the Project Manager to set up the Hanoi branch. In 2009, Oanh was appointed Vice President for the Corporate Team, Global Banking, in the North of Vietnam and then moved to head the Financial Institutional Group (FIG) team in May 2010, for which Oanh played an instrumental role in setting the business strategy and driving sales. 
In August 2010, she was appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Ltd., Hanoi Branch, also remained holding her position as Associate Director, FIG, covering Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. 
In March 2016, Oanh took the role of Director, Head of Corporate Banking of Wholesale Banking in the South. During more than 10 years at various managerial roles at HSBC, by her deep understanding in finance and banking sector, as well as her clever leadership skillset, Oanh has contributed to building up different strong, united and enthusiastic teams across the bank, then improving the financial performance of HSBC Vietnam. 
In her new role, with her experience and expertise, Oanh is expected to continue improving HSBC Vietnam’s people strategy, building world class generation of bankers and contributing to the growth of the bank in Vietnam.
