During the latest meeting of the Government, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc decided to set up special working team and project to attract more FDI to ramp up benefits of the trend of moving production from China to Vietnam in the post Covid-19 pandemic.
According to the Prime Minister, Vietnam should make efforts to catch up the trends of moving production after the pandemic, especially Vietnam needs to focus on the multinational companies or high tech companies which often hold the highest places of the supply chain. But the Prime Minister stressed that Vietnam should also need to change the method of attracting FDI.
“We need to think what the foreign investors need so that we can discuss, corporate and meet their demands so that we can attract FDI successfully and bring forward mutual benefits”, Prime Minister stressed. Also in the opinion of the Prime Minister, it is mandatory to attract investment selectively, focus on the big multinational companies with the high tech and environmental friendly manufacturing methods.
In order to reach those targets, there was suggestion that Vietnam should set up investment capital to welcome the wave of moving production bases after Covid-19 pandemic. The Prime Minister agreed with this suggestion. The Prime Minister directed the immediate project to attract foreign investment capital, in which Vietnam should make efforts to solve investors’ concerns on the land and human resources.
The Ministry of Planning and Investment pointed out that the international corporations are speeding up the diversification of investment locations and reposition production. In reality, the big investors keep expanding investing and launching the new investment projects.
The foreign groups tend to focus on 4 different cateories including It, electronic device production, e-commerce and logistics, consumer goods and retail.
